How to Make an Eggciting Easter Basket
Easter is almost here, and that means celebrating the joyous occasion of Jesus’s resurrection. After 40 days of sacrifice, Easter baskets overflowing with treats help children feel the love. Filled with all the things your child loves, these baskets add an element of much-needed fun to the holiday. Whether you want to keep it traditional or take on a DIY challenge, we have tips on creating an Easter basket that’s sure to egg-cite your child.
Traditional Easter Basket
Sometimes, it’s best to go with what works. Traditional Easter baskets have gotten you this far, so there’s no need to change up the formula. Besides, going with a solid template gives you plenty of space to add your own flair.
To make a traditional easter basket, follow these steps:
Step 1: Pick a basket and filler.
Find a traditional wicker basket, or see if there’s one in your child’s favorite color.
Filler comes in paper and plastic and in all the colors of the rainbow.
Step 2: Put the largest items in first.
Keep the large items in the back to provide the most visibility for all items. This will also ensure that they fit into the basket and that nothing falls out.
For large basket items, consider big toys, giant chocolate rabbits, and books.
Step 3: Add in items, going from largest to smallest.
Smaller items can be decorated Easter eggs, smaller candies, and smaller toys.
Step 4: Add filler around the bottom of the items.
This will help secure the items and make the basket look nice and full.
Step 5: Wrap the basket.
Use a ribbon to tie a giant bow, or use a cute tag. You can also use a cellophane bag if you want to make opening the basket a more gift-like experience.

These DIY ideas can take a traditional Easter basket to the next level:
Wrap printed fabric around the basket.
Go all out decorating the eggs.
Use twine instead of ribbon for a more earthy feel.
Decorate with fresh flowers to liven it up.
Use take-out boxes, mason jars, or other materials to make a smaller “basket.”
Crochet a basket, or make one out of felt.
