Our Favorite Thanksgiving Crafts
It can be a little overwhelming to try and cook a Thanksgiving meal with all your children and extended family in the kitchen — especially if everyone wants to help. But with these easy Thanksgiving crafts, you can give your children and guests a fun, easy way to spend time together and help decorate the table. Tabletop Turkey: Place CardWhat you need:
- A small paper cup
- A brown pom-pom
- A pack of multi-colored construction paper
- Googly eyes
- Scissors and glue
- Brown paint
- A pack of small name cards
How to create:
- Start by painting the little paper cup with brown paint.
- After it dries, turn the cup upside down, and glue the pom-pom to the bottom of the cup. This will be the turkey head!
- Grab your construction paper and cut nine, 4-inch leaves from different colors. Fold them in half to make them look more leaf-like.
- To create your turkey’s beak, fold a 1-inch square piece of orange paper in half, then cut a triangle out of the folded paper.
- For the turkey’s wattle, use a 2-inch square piece of red paper. Fold it in half, then cut out a heart shape.
- Glue the beak and wattle to your “head,” and glue the leaves to the back of the paper cup! Finally, glue googly eyes to the pom-pom.
- For each person attending your Thanksgiving dinner, write their name on a name tag, then stick it on to the paper cup to create a place card.
Feather PlacematsWhat you need:
- Scrapbook paper
- Feathers
- Scissors and glue
How to create:
- Trace the largest plate you’ll be using on a piece of scrapbook paper, and then cut it out.
- Glue feathers along the edge of your paper circle so they fan out around it! Don’t worry about decorating the center; it will be covered by your plates.
Mini MaracasWhat you need:
- An empty egg carton
- Dried beans
- Popsicle sticks
- Glue
- Orange paint
- Green pipe cleaner
- Green construction paper
How to create:
- Cut out a section — top and bottom — of an empty egg carton.
- Fill one side with dried beans.
- Glue the sides together, then take the popsicle stick and push it into the middle.
- Cover in orange paint and let dry.
- Push a green pipe cleaner through the top, and push a green leaf through the pipe cleaner. Then bend the pipe cleaner over in a loop.
