Spotlight on St. Joseph Catholic School
At St. Joseph Catholic School, our mission is to foster a diverse community of disciples. Since 1956, we have empowered our students through a rigorous, inclusive Catholic education rooted in Gospel values and service to others. Learn about how we prepare our students for lifelong success:AcademicsOur curriculum is focused on project-based learning and differentiated instruction. Our students become critical and analytical thinkers who develop questions to further learning and are able to investigate, plan, and design with a variety of tools. In the last 14 years, there have been 33 valedictorians or salutatorians from Polk County high schools that are St. Joseph graduates. STREAMWe incorporate the latest technology into our classrooms and give students opportunities to utilize state-of-the-art facilities and tools. We’ve had guest speakers come in to speak to third graders about the excitement of engineering, and we’ve learned how to use our knowledge to build animal prosthetics. We’ve also taken field trips to places such as the Ballet Conservatory, where first grade learned how to connect dance and STREAM, and the Orlando Science Center.Extracurricular ActivitiesWhether your child is interested in concert choir, theater, or robotics, they will be able to find a community of like-minded individuals. Each child is encouraged to follow their passions and use them to make the world a better place.ServiceWe are dedicated to teaching our students that we learn in order to serve. Students learn to respect and care for God’s creation, whether it’s helping to feed 3,000 people at Thanksgiving or serving as cantors and gift bearers at mass. They express their faith by participating in their local, national, and international communities.AthleticsWe offer a variety of sports, including golf, basketball, running, tennis, and volleyball. We believe that athletics are an important way for students to develop outside of the classroom, and an excellent way to learn teamwork, work ethic, sportsmanship, responsibility, and perseverance. They see the fruits of their labor in success on the field, and they learn how to push past challenges and grow from failures. At Polk County private schools, we foster an atmosphere of care and an environment of high expectations and effective discipline.
