4 Crafts to Show Dad You Care this Father’s Day

Father’s Day is a great time to celebrate the best dad ever! Give the dad in your life a gift he will treasure always – something homemade from his children who attend one of the Diocese of Orlando’s schools in Polk County. Gather your children together and look through these fantastic ideas of Father’s Day gifts that will warm Dad’s heart and make him realize how much he means to his children.

  1. Find small shells or rocks and arrange them into the shape of a man as they are glued to a piece of construction paper. Paint a happy face on the “head” shell or rock and add painted clothes. Add, “I shell always love you,” or “You rock!” on the paper.
  2. Use finger paint to make handprints, fingerprints, or footprints on construction or craft paper. Design a picture using any – or all – these precious prints. Non-toxic fabric paint can be used instead of finger paint to decorate t-shirts or other fabric items.
  3. Make Dad his favorite snack or meal – with help from Mom! Plan a menu of Dad’s favorites for one meal or all day. If Dad prefers to eat out, have your child create a gift certificate good for one meal (with dessert!) at his favorite restaurant.
  4. Heartfelt cards are always welcome, and a card designed and penned by your child will be a keepsake. If your child cannot make up his mind on which design to choose, make several cards! Draw hearts, pictures of Dad with his family, use magazines to cut out pictures of Dad’s favorite hobbies, find stickers, cut out designs, and use your imagination to create a card that means the world to both the giver and the recipient.

Remember all the dads in your life this Father’s Day. Grandfathers, uncles, family friends, and other father figures in your life will truly enjoy any of these clever crafts that come from the heart. Pray for all fathers during the Father’s Day Sunday Mass at your Diocese of Orlando church, and plan ahead of time to ensure your children attending schools in Polk County are prepared to make this Father’s Day truly special.
